The Terran Robotics founding team combines 40+ years of construction, robotics, and AI experience. Every member has built and shipped hardware at scale before.
CEO & Co-Founder
Previously VP of Field Operations at Pulte Homes, where he oversaw the delivery of 2,400 single-family units annually across 14 markets. Before that, Zach spent 8 years at Caterpillar's autonomous machine division, leading the commercial launch of the first autonomous grading system certified for residential site work. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University.
CTO & Co-Founder
David led the perception and motion-planning teams at Boston Dynamics for 6 years before co-founding Terran. He designed the SLAM-based navigation stack used in Spot's commercial inspection deployments and holds 12 patents in robotic kinematics and sensor fusion. He has a PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University and an MS in Electrical Engineering from MIT.
VP Engineering
Marcus was Director of Hardware Engineering at Nuro, where he shipped 3 generations of autonomous delivery vehicles from prototype to production volumes of 800 units per year. At Terran, he owns the robot hardware stack - mechanical, electrical, and firmware. He has an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in California and Arizona.
We are a small team with large ambitions. Every person at Terran has direct impact on the product and the mission. We hire people who have shipped hardware before and who are uncomfortable with slow.
We operate in 6-week build cycles tied directly to construction site milestones. Every feature goes through a field test at one of our active sites before it ships to customers. We don't ship software we haven't used on real dirt.
We are a hybrid team: hardware engineers are on-site in Boulder; software and AI teams work in a mix of Boulder and remote. All hands meet in person quarterly for a 3-day build sprint where every team - hardware, software, AI, operations - works on the same site together.
We hire people who have shipped before - whether that's a production robot, a deployed API, or a 200-unit residential project. We don't care about pedigree. We care about what you've gotten out the door and what you learned doing it.
